You will get up when you’re ready, eat breakfast, and get ready to be taken on a tour of the various Lake Kivu attractions, including the fishing communities. This is the ideal time of year for bird watchers to see both resident and migratory bird species. The islands and lakeshores are home to a number of primates that dwell in forests. Get up early, eat breakfast, and then travel to the Volcanoes National Park offices for a briefing on tracking golden monkeys. Following the briefing, the park guide will take you into the forest, where you’ll finally be able to see the monkeys perched on treetops and foraging on the ground. A rare and threatened species of primates is the golden monkey. They pose for as many shots as they can while looking adorable. You will then return to the park for lunch and a break. Our guide will take you on a nighttime drive to see the stunning twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo later in the day.

You will get up whenever you want to and get ready for the trip back to Kigali. You will go to the Gisozi genocide memorial site, the city market, the former presidential palace, and artisan stores. You will have another opportunity to purchase works of local art to give as gifts to family and friends back home during the city tour. After the city tour, our guide will drive you back to the airport for your flight home or, if you are staying in Kigali, to your hotel.
