Following breakfast, you will be picked up by our driver and do a city tour in Kigali where you will visit the genocide memorial site and then continue to Akagera National Park.

Day 2: Full day game drive through Akagera National Park

Your tour guide will take you to the Mutumba hill on the way to the northern part of the park after your morning meal. The park’s inhabitants include Masai giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, elephants, hippos, and crocodiles, among others. Return to the Lodge and relaxation and you will have another game drive in the late afternoon where you will be able to spot other wildlife that you might have missed in the morning.

Day 3: Akagera National Park to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Breakfast will be served at the lodge in the early morning, and then you will travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will make a stop to the Nyanza Palace, which served as the past monarchs of Rwanda’s traditional residence.
In addition, a lunch break will be made while travelling to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Upon your arrival check in dinner and overnight.
Accommodation options, Gisakura Guest House (budget), Nyungwe Forest Lodge (luxury), and Nyungwe Top View Hotel (midrange).

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and canopy walk

You’ll get up early and have breakfast at your hotel before heading to the Nyungwe Forest offices for the chimpanzee tracking briefing. You only need to follow the Guides far into the forest because they know where to find the chimpanzees. Once you’ve located the chimpanzee, make sure you get enough pictures and spend some time observing the animals’ behavior.
After your chimpanzee tracking expedition, return to your accommodation for lunch and get ready to go on the Canopy walk. It enables you to view the park from above and observe more monkeys and birds from a fresh perspective.
Accommodation options, Gisakura Guest House (budget), Nyungwe Forest Lodge (luxury), and Nyungwe Top View Hotel (midrange).

Day 5: Travel to Lake Kivu and have a boat ride in the late afternoon.

After eating breakfast, leave the accommodation and head to Lake Kivu. The bubbling methane gas that escapes from the lake’s bottom has made it famous throughout the world. You’ll have lunch while arriving and enjoying views on the lake. You will be taken on a boat tour to some of the islands in the afternoon. Once the boat ride is over, return to your accommodation and get ready to go swimming in the lake or simply unwind by the lake and take in the stunning surroundings and the daily activities of the locals.

Day 6: Tour Lake Kivu and fishing communities and transfer to the National Volcanoes Park

You will get up when you’re ready, eat breakfast, and get ready to be taken on a tour of the various Lake Kivu attractions, including the fishing communities. This is the ideal time of year for bird watchers to see both resident and migratory bird species. The islands and lakeshores are home to a number of primates that dwell in forests. Additionally, you can run with locals by happenstance as they go about their regular lives. You will then depart for Musanze’s Volcanoes National Park.
Dinner and lodging at The Garden Place Hotel (budget), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (mid-range), and Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (luxury).

Day 7: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes and cultural tour

Eat a substantial meal early in the morning, and then your driving guide will transport you to the park’s headquarters for beefing. Start your exciting journey of tracking gorillas later. The trek takes 1 to 6 hours, and trekkers are allowed to spend 1 hour with the gorillas. It is incredibly enjoyable to watch them play, protect one another, and feed, among other things. Hikers will be able to see additional wildlife while trekking, such as golden monkeys, elephants, and birds.
You will be taken to the Iby’iwacu cultural village, which is close to the volcanoes national park, after some relaxation. You will be delighted with cultural dances and get the opportunity to learn more about the native Kinyarwanda culture while at the hamlet. Expect to participate in the performances and have the opportunity to purchase mementos.
Dinner and lodging at The Garden Place Hotel (budget), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (mid-range), and Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (luxury).

Day 8: Golden Monkey Tracking – travel back to Kigali

Get up early, eat breakfast, and then travel to the Volcanoes National Park offices for a briefing on tracking golden monkeys. Following the briefing, the park guide will take you into the forest, where you’ll finally be able to see the monkeys perched on treetops and foraging on the ground. A rare and threatened species of primates is the golden monkey. They pose for as many shots as they can while looking adorable. You will then return to the park for lunch and embark on your journey back to Kigali. Our driver will drop you at the airport or at the hotel.
